Ksa warns against advertising bets live during matches

3 June 2026
(PRESS RELEASE) -- The Dutch Gaming Authority has written to sports betting providers to emphasize that they are not permitted to advertise live gambling during live matches. This ban protects (potential) gamblers against impulsive participation in gambling during sports matches and half-time.

In the letter, the Ksa explains once again the rules regarding live advertising during sports betting and what is and is not permitted. Broadly speaking, providers may not entice viewers of a match to place a bet during the match. This can be done, for example, via a social media post, push notification, or email.

During the World Cup, the Ksa expects increased participation in betting. The regulator therefore previously wrote to the various license holders to draw their attention to the broader advertising rules, such as the ban on sports sponsorship or the use of role models. During the World Cup, the Ksa will exercise extra supervision regarding violations of the advertising rules. Enforcement action will be taken immediately in the event of violations.
