Tombola issued with £184,500 penalty by UK Gambling Commission

29 August 2025
(PRESS RELEASE) -- Following a U.K. Gambling Commision investigation, outside of a license review, into a key event submission by Tombola (International) PLC, the Gambling Commission found that the licensee breached:

- Social Responsibility Code Provision 5.1.11 – Direct electronic consent
- SRCP 3.5.3 – Self-exclusion, Paragraph 2 – Remote SR Code
- SRCP 3.5.3 – Self-exclusion, Paragraph 6 – Remote SR.

The failure to comply with a SRCP is a breach of a license condition by virtue of section 82(1) of the Gambling Act 2005.

In line with the Commission’s Licensing, compliance and enforcement policy statement and the Statement of principles for determining financial penalties, the Commission has decided to impose a financial penalty of £184,500 under section 121(1) of the Act.

Commission Officials note the failings were of an isolated manner which did not affect the entirety of the Licensee’s controls. Commission Officials also note the immediate remedial action taken by the Licensee and acknowledge that the Licensee has co-operated with the Commission throughout the investigation.
